RUFFLES
I love ruffles, for me they are the definition of pretty. I know they are not for everyone, and I know that there are many haters out there.... Try to keep an open mind, for Spring 2010 designers are giving us, a more sophisticated take on the ruffle, by playing with size and placement. Ruffles are no longer an embellishment they are altering silhouettes. Yes, yes ruffles were a big hit last spring also, but I am glad we have another season of them, because they are just so fun!
Ssasychic gives out good advice on how to wear ruffles.
No. 1 Maintain Balance. Ruffles volume. Placement is crucial, do not add ruffles to "problem" areas of the body
No.2 Moderation. This does not need explaining, use your judgement. Marc Jabobs did not listen to this one, I don't like. Viktor &Rolf didn't either, but I do like.
No.3 Muted accessories. I would not layer on the bangles and chandelier earring
No.4 Pair with straight lines.

I absolutely love Valentino and Stella's ruffles, normally I would associate ruffles with being five but I think they are really sophisticated on the runways this season.
ReplyDeleteI love anything girly, so I definitely love the ruffle trend. I think Lanvin and Valentino did a good job with the ruffle construction. Although I wouldn't wear it, Victor & Rolf's light blue gown is very striking and avant-garde.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE ruffles! I think they are soo feminine and chic. I love Stella and Valentino's ruffles because they are not over done! They are very pleasing to the eye and I'm sure would look great on anyone!
ReplyDeleteI too love ruffles. The more the better! I think that ruffles can really make or break an outfit. Its the perfect touch for everything just about as long as it isn't done in excess.

Ruffles are definitely infiltrating the high fashion world and I am becoming a fan. Recently I purchased a few garments featuring this detail and surprisingly I want more! I also agree with your number one rule, avoid ruffles in problem areas of one's body! Ruffles can accentuate greatly, make sure its what you want accentuated!
ReplyDeleteI also love the ruffles for Spring 2010. Esp. Stella McCartneys!
ReplyDeleteAll those look amazing! I can't wait for Spring2010.
ReplyDeleteI agree ruffles are and have been making a major statement on the runways. I loved Stella McCartneys' collection for Spring 2010, Lanvins as well.
ReplyDeleteI love ruffles as well! I am so glad they have made it to fashion for the spring season. I think that ruffles look great on everyone! They are so cute and trendy!
ReplyDeleteRuffles haven't ever been my thing, but I do love the way Stella McCartney used them. It is both playful and whitty.
